Reception today will introduce Chancellor-Elect to the UNC community

This afternoon, the UNC Board of Governors is scheduled to elect our 10th chancellor. Details will be posted on the Carolina homepage at http://www.unc.edu after the election.

Roger Perry, Chair of the University Board of Trustees, invites the University community to celebrate this important day and greet the Chancellor-Elect at a campus reception on Thursday, May 8 at 3:30 p.m. in Gerrard Hall, next to the Campus Y.

Faculty invited to participate in Commencement weekend events May 10-11

All faculty members are invited to participate in the events of Commencement Weekend 2008 this Saturday and Sunday. The Doctoral Hooding ceremony will be held Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. in Memorial Hall. Faculty members are invited to assemble in front of New West at 9:30 for the processional.

Commencement will be held Sunday, May 11, at 9:30 a.m. in Kenan Stadium. The faculty processional will form at 9 a.m. on the second floor of the Kenan Football Center at the west end of the stadium. Jessye Norman, world renowned opera singer, will be this year’s speaker.

IAH Faculty Fellowship Program announcement coming soon

The Institute for the Arts and Humanities will soon announce its Faculty Fellowship Program for the 2009-2010 school year. See http://www.iah.unc.edu for more information about applications for these fellowships.

Membership drive underway for “The Farm”

The UNC Faculty-Staff Recreation Administration, also known as “The Farm,” is currently holding a membership drive to celebrate the 40th birthday of their pool. The initiation fee has been reduced from $600 to $400 through September. Permanent membership requires a one-time $400 initiation fee and quarterly dues based on the number of family members. A temporary, one-year membership or an eight-week (non-renewable) membership are also available.

Membership in the Farm is open to all full-time and permanent part-time employees of the University and UNC Hospitals, UNC alumni, and adult children of Farm members. It is also open to personnel of the consolidated UNC System who live in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro-Durham area.

Carolina Submits First Response to UNC Tomorrow
